Open Our Eyes by Debbi

Have you ever gone on a cave tour? One where they turn out the lights, and there is absolute darkness? When you can’t see anything, it can be very scary, but on a cave tour, we know the darkness is not going to last very long.

Our human eyes need light to see. Insects, fish and animals that live in complete darkness have evolved to find their way around using methods other than sight because their eyes cannot function in the dark. Without sight, humans also learn to navigate using other senses. We can feel our way or listen for sounds like traffic to avoid.

How do you see God? It’s not with human eyes, and not because of darkness, but because we know God through other ways. Jesus is the Light of the World, and he helps us to see God by opening the eyes of our heart. For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Lord, open our eyes and open our hearts. We want to see you.
